Artificial or Natural Turf?

We say artificial turf is a better option than grass for your back or front-yard if you live in the desert.

You can choose from a large variety of artificial grass of different tones of green, height, material, etc. Artificial turf doesn’t require watering and it can last for a long time. Additionally, it is low maintenance.

If you like walking or jogging, you probably noticed that artificial grass is installed alongside winding sidewalks and public spaces, in some neighborhoods, and it looks very good.

Talk to your landscaper if you’re undecided about which option is best for you.

Trimming Palm Trees

Palm trees have grown in the wild for longer than we have been planting them in our yards and they survived without trimming. So, if you think that your palm tree will do better or it will grow taller if you prune it, you are wrong. However, dead palm leaves or fronds could become a hazard and that is why you should cut them. Remember, the less pruning you do, the better for the tree. Never prune your palm tree for cosmetic reasons.

VIP Landscaping does not provide tree trimming and pruning services. However, our landscapers include palm trees in the landscape designs.

How to Water, What to Plant

Watering: Get up early this summer. We recommend watering early in the morning, between 4 am and 8 am. Early morning watering reduces the evaporation loss.

We recommend deep watering as it is the best way to ensure that the entire root zone becomes saturated.

Fertilizing: Use a slow-release fertilizer for containers. Roses should be fed during the middle of the month to encourage more flowering.

Lawn Care: Raising the mowing height to 2.5 to 3-inches is recommended. Be sure to water your lawn with one inch of water per week.

How Important Sun Is For Your Garden

Why sun is important for your garden? Well, a very straight answer will be this: Plants get energy from light through a process called photosynthesis.

This is how light affects the growth of a plant. Without light, a plant would not be able to produce the energy it needs to grow.

When designing your garden, always make sure that the sun covers as much area as possible, otherwise certain plants may not live properly.

Also, make sure you provide enough water so that the plants and flowers keep the beautiful aspect.

At VIP Landscaping, we provide complete landscaping design services across Las Vegas. If you have any questions related to this or want to get in touch with our specialists, don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.

How To Get Your Garden Ready For Summer

Nature doesn’t take time off, so make sure you are respecting a minimum set of rules when trying to take care of your garden.

During the active growing season, more water often moves up than it does down. Look at all the big plants, such as trees and shrubs, in your landscape. They’re like big straws stuck in the ground.

All those roots, branches, and leaves are sucking water up from the soil, usually at a time when there’s little rain to replenish it.

The bigger the leaves get and the more flowers that bloom translates into more water being removed from the soil systems.
